Dhumketu AI Labs is the studio of Joy Jacob — based in Ahmedabad, building Android-native, edge, and RAG products, with async consulting as a secondary surface.
The thesis
We build vertical AI products from lived pain, and take async consulting engagements where we've already solved the problem. The studio's core is products we own and ship — ToTa-Ai on Android, Swaad CMS for catering operations, freeshare.biz on the Cloudflare edge, and the KRS RAG persona system. Consulting is secondary, and only in domains we've already built in.
Who's behind this
Joy Jacob is the founder, based in Ahmedabad. He has spent five years — and counting — at Oizom Instruments building data pipelines and IoT systems for industrial air quality monitoring: ESP32 boards, MQTT brokers, factory floors, environmental data feeds that have to keep running whether anyone is watching or not. That's where the engineering taste comes from — systems that survive without supervision. Dhumketu is his concurrent studio, where that same bias is applied to vertical AI products.
What "Dhumketu" means
Dhumketu (ધૂમકેતુ) is the Sanskrit and Gujarati word for a comet — an astronomical event that moves through systems and leaves a trace. The name is intentional. We don't sell framework opinions. We build products that ship, run, and earn their place in someone's day.
We build products, not slideware. Every product we ship comes from a problem we've actually lived. If it needs a deck to explain why it matters, we didn't build the right thing.
Two sites, one practice
This site, dhumketu.space, is the studio — products, partnerships, and the work itself. Consulting hire lives on a separate site, thisisjoyjacob.in, so the two surfaces stay clean and don't muddy each other.
